Studies on danceThis section includes a series of different works, that although not being part of a series belong to the same line of research and visual language. All of these works are video installations that look into using a conservative dance language in different contexts. The installations are often shown in places where there is a heavy influx of people, in distracted environments. The works never attempt to be an obvious focus of attention, but rather something the viewer can suddenly discover, after being in its proximity for a while. For this evening choreographer Jan Martens invited a series of different artists and performers to showcase their visions of contemporary dance. Luis Rios-Zertuche, performed by Connor Schumacher Movement Studies are a series of videos made by filming performer Connor Schumacher in one long shot, which is then multiplied and displaced into different types of compositions and choreographic structures. In some videos it is more apparent that all dance belongs to a single shot, while in others it comes across as a planned choreography with different parts in it. |
