Dancing MuseumsDancing Museums is a new partnership project bringing together five European dance organisations and eight internationally renowned museums to explore new ways of interacting with audiences. From June 2015 to March 2017, dance artists and audiovisual artists, one pair from each organisation, will embark upon a two-year period of research and development and take part in a week long residency in each of the museums, providing regular opportunities to collaborate with their European partners as the project progresses. As part of the residency they will also be joined by experts from other fields such as education, digital media and academia to contextualize the research and stimulate new thinking. In Rotterdam dance artist Connor Schumacher will be working together with audiovisual artist Luis Alonso Rios Zertuche. They will be doing a two week residency at Museum Boijmans van Beuningen from October 12th to the 25th. Downstairs, 2015Performative installation at Museum Boijmans van Beuningen
Connor Schumacher and Luis Alonso Rios Zertuche Connor Schumacher (NL), Luis Rios-Zertuche (NL) In the Art Studio Schumacher and Rios-Zertuche have built an installation, in which they have recreated an everyday space which shifts between a rehearsal studio, a film set and a theatre. In this installation they, together with the other dance artists, film images that function as moving paintings inside their installation in the Art Studio. The narrative in these images does not evolve or develop. They have no beginning and no end. It is the act of both making and performing as well as being observed by you, the viewer, and the camera. The resulting films of Downstairs are projected in the Uncovering Everyday life: van Bosch tot Bruegel exhibition. Durational Dance Object, 2015
